Los Angeles based artist Ooty Moorehead has a true passion for abstract mixed media. Her half Japanese mixed race identity is central to her vision which is based on movement and energy that ties back to a minimal, wabi sabi aesthetic. Her strong compositions and use of color to communicate her ideas were honed at Art Center College of Design where she graduated top of her class as a Graphic Designer. These ideas were refined when she ran her own design studio.
Her recent work with watercolor ink mixed with a variety of materials such as Yupo paper, textiles, and adhesives express her sense of abandon through a passion for color, movement, and texture. Her work entices the viewer to explore different emotions with each gaze as the subtle composition pulls their eye into and around the paintings.
